just a quick update:
- went to eat sakae sushi with my psych frens.. includes xueling, yokewen, lanzi, ming, fred, desmond.. had a good time with them swooning over unagi sushi, sashimi and chawanmushi! had a craving for jap food since a very long time but never got the chance.. ahhh finally satisfied..
- joined dear for OMC bbq last week, as requested by commander weijuan.. haha.. alvin's chicken marinating skills are superb.. really sweet and yummy! had a good time with the OMCians making ramly burgers and playing a ridiculous pole ball game.. these people made me feel very much welcomed.. :)
- watched NUS temasek hall's production at UCC on sat.. weizhen's the producer and barry/key kinda asked me n dear to go, so we did.. turned out that aside from weizhen, barry and key, the other producer aprilyn was my p5 & 6 classmate, choreographer amanda was my sec1 & 2 classmate and i met many other long-lost ex-class/school mates there.. seems like we all went to support different people.. haha.. good to meet up with jc mates (council, sabrina & desmond) as well.. after the production, dear brought me to a prata place around serangoon gardens area.. had delicious cheese mushroom prata and syrup lime drink.. nice!
- hallprod (sort of) ktv session.. 5 morons chiong-ed 5 hours of ktv.. haha.. had a great time singing my heart out with hallprod songbirds: johnson, zongming, justin, lihui.. after ktv, me lihui and justin went to have dinner at manhatten fish market.. justin and i shared a manhatten platter for 2! oh the absolutely scrumptious prawns with sizzling melted cheese! *swoons* we'll go back to plaza singapura again to try the riverside indo restaurant which we missed out on!
- hall 2 CNY dinner at sembawang SAF yacht club yest.. i thought that place was not bad cos it's just beside the sea.. would have been a sight if only we din arrive at the ulu-ated club when it's all dark and starry.. but anyway, food wasn't too bad and we had generous portions since hallprod tables only had 6 people each! woootz! haha.. god bless the hungry souls.. hallprod also HUAT with yifang winning a golden pig and zongming a jukebox.. 2 out of 9 prizes.. not bad.. i drank a little beer.. 1 and a half cups actually.. then i got all pinkish.. hoho.. idiot coco keep toasting people but din empty his cup.. growl. then it's back to hall for mahjong again. lost 1 buck to sebastian. darn.
- decided to withdraw out of canoeing expedition last minute after much deliberation.. which may turn out to be a good choice cos it rained non-stop today.. from like 12 plus and it has not stopped yet.. lanzi told me they were canoeing in the rain.. well luckily i din go.. if not i would have freaked out in the rain with choppy seas, howling wind and drenched to the skin. but then again, i would have dear to protect me. hahaha.. my knight in bright life jacket.
- tml i'll be off to jem's place for HUAT mahjong blackjack and everything gambling.. woo hoo! mini clique gathering with lanzi, xueling, jem, justin and kel.. yoke can't make it and mindan is in vienna.. ahh pity.. wish me luck in HUAT-ing! :)
- got family gatherings and frens' bdays coming up! and it's OMC subcom nite next wk! so exciting!

Dearest pple of Hall prod
First of all, lemme congratulate you guys for an excellent job done. Simply...fabulous. In fact...that might already be an understatement. It was really good to see that after so many years of hoping..... we finally have our own script for the very first time. And it was a damn good one too...
To the cast: Very talented bunch indeed. Acting was refined and could see that most of you were emotionally well sunk into your role. Of course... for some.... you were just natural for your role. My personal compliments to Wei Chong [Johnny] and Emily [Susan]. You two were outstanding. (On a sidenote...never knew the pageant runner-up had such hidden talent..impressive).
To sounds: Good choice of music. Complimented the show really well and helped bring across emotions to the audience.
To props: 10 points to you guys. Damn near flawless (except for a spotlight on the susan's shelf that nearly blinded me when it was turned on). But heck.... you guys impressed me the most. The stage sets were ingenius and your movement was really [oops it's a chinese word that cannot be viewed]. That is the most appropriate description for you guys. If I had 3 thumbs to raise... they'd all be up.
To Johnson: You!!!!! have really pushed the bar up a notch. Just when my batch thought we did well, you just swept us off our feet with this show =). Besides praise for your script, I think you have done well to refine the stagework. Your casting choices were good as they were appropriate for their roles (not just refering to the ah-beng), and the script was also one that presented appeal to the hall crowd. Not only that, but your use of the stageset was also really impressive. Personally.... I think you have improved a lot since last year's production. All-in-all.... everything was just combined in good amounts to produce a great show.
To Ying Lan and the rest of the verve crew: I'm sure every single one of you have put in great efforts to making this production successful. As you all would have probably realised on Sat night, none of this effort has gone to waste. I've heard compliments from many of the seniors, and they all share the same sentiments. Ying Lan, the next time I talk to you... I'm gonna stand a metre away. Less straining on the neck. But....just want to tell you, as the front lady of this production, you have done all the seniors of verve very proud. Very..very proud.
Since my time (which really isn't that long ago since i'm not that old), the committee of verve has always wanted to bring the production to new heights. And while we have only brought it up by inches, you peepz have brought it up by yards. A pity Bisheng (my year's producer) wasn't there to see it, otherwise, he'd be just as proud of how Verve has come so far.. To those going to take over hall prod next year, your shoulder's gonna carry the heavy load of meeting this same bar. But that being said, remember to tap on the experience of the seniors and I'm sure the job will be much easier. Once again, thank you for inviting me to the production. It was pure enjoyment for me to have watched this production and I'm looking forward to Verve Productions 07/08. (just remember to send out earlier invites to the seniors k?)

hey blogger tay is back! haha.. realised i'd been kinda busy and not updating my blog as often as i'd like to.. but well, am very free now so it's time to blog! (note that mugging isn't in my list of things to catch up on.. BAH! -_-")

had hallprod celebratory BBQ last thurs nite in hall 2! had great fun with $200 bucks worth of food and drinks plus ridiculous rounds of bridge!! i think i drove everyone mad with my usual anyhow-bid stunts.. lol.. was super funny dragging everyone down with me.. HAHAHA.. den they started to pull the same anyhow-bid stunt EVERY HAND.. ate a whole plate of sausages that night cos of my cui backside cards.. ROAR!! after that was mahjong till 4 plus am in blk8 gambling den, ah lien's rm.. happening man.. oh that nite was also hall 2's bazaar, and i won this cute toilet paper holder while patronising kokpeng's "screw it up" game stall! kawaii rite?
dear was busy that day tending his OMC stall selling friendship wk stuff.. to my surprise, i came bk to my room to see THIS perched on my table! so sweet rite! :)
since i'm so free now, it's time to settle a few stuff:
- hallprod CNY steamboat next wk!
- next year's hallprod maincom!
- do my readings! urgh.
- redecorate my board!
- CNY shopping!
- v'day/friendship day gifts!
- download hana yori dango and heroes!

the people who brought u verve productions - the store of memorabilia! (sans a few people haha)
but first, thanks to all who came to support our show! it was a massive massive success thanks to every single one of u! :)
am feeling kinda lost now that hallprod's over. am having this floaty feeling, like everything that happened on saturday nite was unreal. till now, it's still quite hard to believe that we achieved full house (!!) and that audience response was superb......

my own memorabilia:
- it wasn't that long ago when roomie and i decided to re-run for hallprod. we had a tough time deciding on our starting com and the seniors' positions. we approached johnson and he actually initially refused to be director again.
- yinglan decided to be adventurous so we decided on an original script this year. remember our script roomie? haha.. the one we drafted in our sociology of changing family lecture.. it's so amateur compared to johnson's script! lol..
- luckily johnson volunteered to write "the store of memorabilia" for us.. can still recall our long chat with him outside his room, when he shared his initial ideas about the script.
- at nydc, johnson provided me and shujing with a scene by scene breakdown and rough plot.. that was where the wayang idea emerged. we had lots of fun, coming up with outrageous dialogues and scenarios while shujing gave me the -_-" face.. haha.. prim and proper shujing canot take it..
- our first starting com meeting and script read-thru.. johnson only completed up till act 3 i think.. i remember i read susan's part and he was mother yee.. we reached the quarreling scene and then he played "sim ai eh jai hui la" on his lappie.. it was my first time hearing this song.. and i teared.. i'm not the kind of person who wil tear in cinemas or while watching shows.. so that moment i knew - this was gona touch many people's hearts.. to me, that scene was the make or break of the show..
- then it was headache for publicity and recruiting freshies. i remember me and shujing coaxing the whole dogon og to join hallprod.. haha.. there was a dogon freshie in almost every portfolio.. then it was late nites and extensive hours spent on msn, trying to persuade the 'hot' freshies to join hallprod instead of other coms.. lol..
- then it was first hallprod meeting followed by our first activity tog - hall 2 night cycling.. was kept entertained by gossip mongers zongming, ah lien, shujing, yinglan etc.. johnson was so shagged after chionging the last stretch at punggol end that he had wobbly legs and couldn't walk down the stairs! wahaha! :p
- it was also a difficult search for potential cast members. yinglan and i spent every waking hour visualizing who can fit the roles. imagine sebastian being considered for the roles of keith and johnny then finally cast as desmond. desmond was supposed to be jinhe but he pulled out soon after. it's prob a blessing in disguise, if not we wun have considered coco the man as johnny!!
- i also remember our ridiculous canvassing job for quakers'.. had great fun partnering ah lien weijie and scholar milly.. they r such entertainers! and our funny encounters with aunties who humoured themselves doing the 10 seconds challenge ("quakerisgoodquakerisgoodquakerisgood")..
- speaking of canvassing, carwash was so fun! it was our first time trying carwash, but we were so zai! eric the polisher was so freakin good at removing paint from cars that he decided to carve a career out of that.. hoho.. and he managed to turn a beat-up old dusty car into a spanking new shiny white one! tiring but good soapy fun with the com!
- my garang guni group (comprising me, daro, johnson, jt, lingwei, phyllis) was damn efficient.. we finished all our blocks and collected a good amount of stuff by 130pm! record breaking speed man.. johnson got so high collecting unwanted old stuff for our store of memorabilia! things like the red retro luggage and toys were all kio-ed during garang guni.. lol
- we had our fotoshoot at arab street.. had a great afternoon which ended with our first hallprod dinner at zam zam's..
- my mahjong session with ah lien, zongming, zibin and yinglan.. we decided to write off all debts at the end of 2 rounds at 5 plus am.. faints..
- countless nites with my roomie, visualizing the big day and painting castles in the air.. haha.. we even imagined opening circle seats before we sold any tickets! and were contemplating how much red packet to give to the com members with "excess profits".. wahaha!
- all the hours spent fixing shelves, finding things to put on them, deciding what to put where, how to play about with the shelves' orientation.. i'm glad the audience love the shelves cos the props pple put so much effort into it! even moving the shelves took so many hours of practice and drilling..
- all the ridiculous things we did during rehearsals and the nightly macs supper for the cast.. i miss rehearsals esp after i stepped down from the position of stage manager last yr.. it was always so much fun standing in for absent cast members.. i can just sit there and laugh the whole nite.. plus johnson's vocal warm ups (ie. dog panting) and funny acting games that helped polish our acting skills.. all are so memorable..
- hallprod dinner @ marina square changing appetites plus KTV after that.. my hallprod guys can really sing! xiaoniu and randy esp.. unexpected.. haha.. and our songbird milly.. zai!
- boliao zo bo nites with zongming, crapping in my room till 5.30am.. -_-"
- mass sending zongming's self-recorded acoustic songs via msn.. and trying to lelong him to interested gals.. haha..
- me trying to make arrangements for AL the man to be at a certain stage side with a certain somebody.. which failed miserably due to unforeseen circumstances.. groans.. benefited daro instead.. boo boo!
- eating yuhao's chicken rice every full dress rehearsal.. got lemon chicken, thai chicken, salad chicken.. but all same chicken.. only different sauce.. bleah..
- all the birthday celebrations for our hallproddies.. not forgetting yinglan's cheapo $8 fiesta cheesecake for the jan babies, coco's vodka + macs + slice of tiramisu cake celeb and milly's sara lee cheesecake from 7-11 complete with 20 pocky "candles" celeb at macs!
- our welfare during the whole production.. from curry puffs, konnyaku jellies, nuggets, fries, nachos, churros, to custom notebooks, files..
there's so many many more great memories of my hallprod days.. goshhh i'm so gona miss all of these...

as this particular episode of my life comes to an end, i have so much to say to so many people.. but i duno how to adequately put them into words..
to my dear, thank u for all the support u've given me, no matter if it's emotional or actual support in the props subcom.. i can feel it, so strong, so direct..
to my roomie, thank u for being my partner in this.. u've done well leading our com to success.. be more confident of urself next time ok? more TLC coming up!
to johnson, thank u for not foresaking the com and agreeing to be our director again, though we half forced u to.. i learned so much from u.. thanks for everything, and i do mean everything. glad to be able to help u realise ur dream..
to my dearest friends, thank u for coming to support me. i know some of u don't even dig dramas, but u're there cos of ur support for ME. that means alot to me and i'll remember that deep down in my heart. esp YOU, kayin. :) oh! andy and songwei, it's the thought that counts yah..
and now, it's back to being mugger me. grins.
